Job post: Executive Producer
Lancashire Encounter Executive Producer - Contract for Services
The Lancashire Encounter festival aspires to be a flagship biennial festival that celebrates the creativity, innovation and practical know-how of the county’s arts, cultural and creative community. Its mission is to reflect the county’s pride in making together and to drive tourism and productivity. It celebrates Preston as the home of the internationally recognised Preston Guild celebrations.
The Lancashire Encounter’s mission is to reflect the county’s pride in making together and to drive tourism and productivity. It will do this by achieving the following aims.
- To reflect and contribute to our understanding of Lancashire’s place in the world, looking outward and inspiring our collective vision for the future
- To celebrate and nurture the creativity, ambition and capacity of creatives in the city and across the county • To be owned and loved by all our communities
- To significantly grow visitor numbers, offering an authentic taste of Lancashire’s heritage and colourful contemporary culture
Preston City Council staged its first Lancashire Encounter Festival in 2015 as a pilot. The weekend event showcased the work of artists from across the Lancashire County and community activities, drawing in 20,000 attendees. Recognising the potential of the event to grow and impact the communities, artists and arts organisations of Lancashire, as well as attract visitors into the County, it was agreed the event should become a bi-annual cultural festival.
Following the pilot, the first full scale Lancashire Encounter Festival was hosted in 2016. Followed by a Brief Encounter in 2017 to maintain the momentum, keep the festival spirit alive and save the date of the 2018 festival. The second full scale festival took over the city in 2018 and another Brief Encounter is being hosted on the 20th September 2019 to launch the date of 2020 full scale festival.
